[NCSOFT ‘AION’] Rising up as the Best MMORPG Through the Largest-scale Download Service in Korea
‘Aion,’ an ambitious work from Korea’s largest online game company, NCSOFT, received great expectations and interests even before it was officially launched. NCSOFT predicted that a large number of users would flock in all at once considering the extreme popularity of the game. Accordingly, the company had to prepare for rapid traffic increases.
However, in a situation where it was difficult to predict the count of simultaneous log-ins and the highest traffic, increasing infrastructures was quite a burden on the company in terms of the cost and the operating personnel required.
[SORIBADA] Large-scale Storage Service for Fast and Low-cost File Sharing Environment
SORIBADA, a club type web hard, holds an enormous amount of contents as it provides a service allowing its members to share and download files. SORIBADA, the largest web hard service in Korea, was in need of large-scale storage in line with its user count continuously increasing. However, the company experienced difficulties in securing operating personnel and equipments as well as in terms of the cost required in implementing large-scale storage.

As damages from illegal reproduction and distribution of film contents spread, Korean Film Council implemented the Korean Open Movie Exchange (KOME) system as a way to create a legitimate film download market.
As an online market mediating film sales between copyright holders and online service providers, KOME saves film files in servers on the public online distribution network and provides contents to consumers by allowing consumers who have made payments through service providers to directly download the films.
However, for this system, the biggest task was to implement a platform to swiftly save all domestic film contents and provide them to consumers. Korean Film Council selected as their partners in establishing an environment for transparent trading of the enormous amounts of film contents as KT and Solbox that had been building up experiences over several years and successfully providing services in cloud storage field.
[Danawa] Quick and reliable, optimal website environment using cache service
DANAWA is Korea’s largest price search and shopping web portal. The percentage of objects with file size of 500byte or less is almost 87%. In addition, the percentage of graphic files, such as images of products, is also high. Moreover, DANAWA experienced difficulties in ensuring fast page response speed when users increased rapidly. Since loading speed is directly related to sales, DANAWA had to find a way to improve on the page loading time.
